Surrender to Freedom

Our country obviously has been and still continues to struggle with conflicts around the world.  Our new president sent thousands of troops to Afghanistan with the promise of securing freedom in that region of the world.  All we want, as a nation, is that the world would surrender to freedom, right?  Without going into grave detail about various forms of liberty-giving government, we all as world citizens want freedom, don't we?  Well, as citizens of heaven--which we truly are--we are set free by Christ.  But we must surrender to Christ and that freedom in Him.

Are you ready to surrender?  Are you?  Are we going to keep doing the same things that get the same results or……are we going to finally surrender it all to God?  Surrender everyday, in every way?  I know we are in the middle of winter, but have you done the “Spring cleaning” of your soul?  Have you caught yourself in bad habits and started breaking them?  Or perhaps you have experienced some spiritual highs and fear that a let down will cause confusion in your walk with God?

Songwriter and performer, Chris Rice suggests that we "come to Jesus", "sing to Jesus", "dance for Jesus", "cry to Jesus", and eventually, we will "fly to Jesus".  The song “Untitled Hymn (Come To Jesus)” creates this growing spiritual pattern.  With everything we do, we do it for and through Jesus Christ.

Colossians 3 states “let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other.  None of this going off and doing your own thing.  And cultivate thankfulness.  Let the Word of Christ – the Message – have the run of the house.  Give it plenty of room in your lives.  Instruct and direct one another using good common sense.  And sing, sing your hearts out to God!  Let every detail in your lives – words, actions, whatever – be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way.” (THE MESSAGE)

In short, do everything for Christ…always.  If we "come to Jesus" with everything that we do, we are assured of our "flight" to Him at the end of our earthly days.  Surrender to Jesus and live!  I am striving every day to do just that.

Shepherds Don't Do That

Shepherds are not managers, coaches, elected officials, kings, or a board of directors. Jesus has called us to lead through shepherding which is not like other forms of leadership.
